Summer 2010

New Cumnock's Community Garden Wildflower Meadow - Full of flowers to attract bumblebees and butterflies!

The woodland and bog garden are full of summer growth...

The garden is being well used this summer, with plants in the greenhouse and gardening by the New Cumnock Gardening Club, Junior Community Council and the Scottish Wildlife Trust.

Hopefully as we go into next year we will be able to develop plans for the garden further - watch this space!

Keep an eye out for wildlife over the summer months - did you know that 2010 is the International Year for Biodiversity? http://www.biodiversityislife.net/

Why not do something for biodiversity and take part in the Big Butterfly Count - 24th July-1st August 2010

New Cumnock Gardening Club plant a weeping cherry tree...

Toad in the garden!

We found this toad in the New Cumnock Community Wildlife Garden!

After all the work to make the garden wildlife friendly this is a huge success, I'm so over the moon that not only have we attracted butterflies, hoverflies, bees and birds, but now we can see that it is a safe haven for amphibians too!

January 2010

New Cumnock Habitat Network Project -

Collaboration brings £176,000 to local landscape and enhances connected environments!

In early 2010 it was announced that the SRDP applications submitted as part of the New Cumnock Habitat Network Project were successful!
Find out more about the project by visiting http://www.ea-cei.org.uk/newcumnock.htm

The heavy snow over the last few months has finally melted, we're hoping the plants are ok in the garden. The trees are already budding so keep an eye out for new spring growth!

We have also had the feasibility study back from our path consultants and are currently working this into a budget with funding options... hopefully we will have some more news on this soon.

We are still working with groups and schools around the East Ayrshire coalfield area, if you have a project you'd like our imput on please get in touch!
